About Ιnstitute

The “Institute of Structural Analysis and Dynamics of Structures (I.S.A.D.S.) or (Ε.Σ.Δ.Κ. in Greek)” was established at 1957 year and it addresses the cognitive domain of the broader field of Structural Analysis and Dynamics of Structures, including Materials Engineering, both in analytical, theoretical, computational, and experimental aspects.

The “Institute of Structural Analysis and Dynamics of Structures” is one of the fundamental institutes in the studies of Civil Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) since the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering. It provides theoretical and practical education to undergraduate students of the School of Civil Engineering of Faculty of Engineering of A.U.Th., as well as to postgraduate students of the Master’s Program in “Earthquake Engineering Design of Structures against Seismic and other Natural Hazards (A.S.T.E.)”.

Furthermore, this Institute participates in the Interdisciplinary Program of Postgraduate Studies of the Faculty Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. With the subject of “Protection, conservation and restoration of cultural monuments“, in which all the departments/schools of the Faculty of Engineering are involved. The coordinating School is the School of Architecture Engineering.

The Institute of Structural Analysis and Dynamics of Structures deals with deterministic or stochastic aspects, both in linear and nonlinear area. Special advanced seismic analyses of Structures, seismic design analyses and assessments of their seismic capacity primarily fall within our Institute’s scientific cognitive domain.

The scientific and research staff of our institute consists of experienced scientists who are excellent connoisseurs of all current scientific and research developments globally, capable of handling any case requiring the analysis of a construction organization.

The Director of the Institute of Structural Analysis and Dynamics of Structures is Dr. Triantafyllos Makarios, Ph.D. Civil Engineer, Associate Professor, serving from 01.09.2023 to 31.08.2026, with direct contact information: Office phone 2310995532, Email: makariostr@civil.auth.gr
